On the morning of 22 April, Mr Song Zhanyong, Founder and President of Singapore-Sino Consulting Group, was invited to the Chinese Studies Department of Ngee Ann Polytechnic to share with nearly 150 students on the topic “Career positioning and preparation strategies for Chinese Studies graduates in the age of AI and multimedia”. The session received an enthusiastic response and was well attended.

At the beginning of his sharing, Mr Song jokingly noted that in order to avoid a “preachy” tone, he would not be offering one-way advice, but instead sharing insights based on his personal journey. He spoke about how he was born in a rural setting, grew up in an urban environment, and eventually developed his career and maturity in Singapore. He highlighted that many students today already start from a higher baseline than he did, and he believes their future achievements will likely surpass his own.

He also shared his observations from more than a decade of interaction with faculty and students from the Chinese Studies Department at Ngee Ann Polytechnic, noting that the lecturers are generally very responsible and dedicated. Regardless of academic results during their studies, many graduates have gone on to do well in fields such as education, media, and business.

In closing, he encouraged students to actively explore their interests during their time in school and to consistently work towards their personal aspirations and goals.
